Catering/Free School Meals

Students can choose from the following options:

  • Street Food Pot £2.45
  • Panini £2.35
  • Baguette From £2.25
  • Wrap £2.55


(The £2.45 Meal Deal is a main meal, plus 2 sides plus salad or vegetables and includes 1 piece of fruit) The Catering service is provided by Pabulum Limited.  

There are digitial screens in school by the main servery and restaurant displaying menus for each day. Students pay for their purchases using their bometric finger print at the point of sale.  Please ensure your child's catering account has a credit balance using their ParentPay account to top up their school meals.

Pabulum provide the catering services at The Boswells School. Pabulum’s Vision is to be at the forefront of improving the next generation’s health and well-being, by shaping the food culture in education that inspires a passion and love of fresh food – without compromise.

Pabulum were awarded ‘Education Caterer of the Year’ at the Foodservice Cateys. This is regarded as the “Oscars” of the catering industry.

We feel so strongly about educating the younger generation on healthy eating by providing fresh and wholesome food, as it's through a balanced diet and healthy food choices that students can maintain higher classroom concentration levels. 94% of our food is freshly prepared in The Boswells School kitchen and 75% of the food is British and locally sourced.

Free school meals

Your child may be eligible for Free School Meals if you are in receipt of any of the following:

  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseekers Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
  • Working Tax Credit run-on-paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
  • Universal Credit with an income of £7400 or less

Children who get any of the above benefits in their own right (i.e. they get benefits payments directly, instead of through a parent/carer) can also get Free School Meals.

The daily allowance for students eligible for Free School Meals is £2.45 and it is advised that students use this allowance at lunch.

Vouchers are supplied to cover the school holiday periods.

The menu offered by our caterer, Pabulum, has been updated and the following items are now available as part of the meal deal provision for £2.45:

From the cold fridge:

  • Pasta pot or sandwich (yellow sticker)
  • Yoghurt or Jelly (green sticker)
  • Water (blue sticker)

Or

Main Meal (Canteen only):

  • Choose from one of the main meals on offer that day
  • 2 x sides (salad and vegetables)
  • Fruit

We also offer all students free toast and porridge every morning which can be accessed between 8.00am – 8.30am at the main servery.
